Ozen ( eating trays )
Even predating the chabudai are these lacquered eating trays most probably derived from Chinese traditions. We offer these items on an availability basis as they are considered antiques in Japan today and are quite rare and difficult to obtain. They require a humid environment as the lacquer may crack in the dryer North American climate.
Our ozens come from the famed region of Wajima well known for their lacquer trade and craftsmen. We offer only the finest wooden lacquered ozen made by Japanese craftsmen.
Our ozen (lacquered dining tray) is a uniquely Japanese traditional handicraft from the Wajima region famed for its lacquer ware.
